Luna Sculpture - Size Comparison and video linkby *bigponymac

I've been getting questions about how big this sculpture is compared to me. I finally got around to taking a picture of me beside it. I stand at six feet tall. The sculpture stands at close to three feet.

I also decided to make a video about this project where I answer some common and specially requested questions. I rambled on for almost thirty minutes but there should be some good information in there for those of you that are interested.

Very nice! you are quite the artist. I would be terrified making a hollow piece. you look pretty hot yourself.

Making it hollow wasn't that scary at all because I built it up a little at a time. I also built internal supports to prevent it from caving in on itself.

The key to proportions is to have a good reference to go by and by checking your proportions frequently as you go along. For this sculpture I sketched out a concept then established a unit of measurement. Mine was the length of one hoof. From there I made scale measurements on the sketch and applied them to the sculpture.
